Casts announced for IVT Sandwich Fair melodramas

Audiences at the Sandwich Fair will be treated to two classic melodramas at the Indian Valley Theatre Melodrama Tent that will be full of puns and jokes: “Alias Smedley Pewtree or ...The Villain of Glitter Gulch” and “Showtime on the Showboat or ... Don’t Throw Garbage in the River.”

“Alias Smedley Pewtree ... or The Villain of Glitter Gulch” is directed by Gina Palmer and the cast is as follows:

From Sandwich: Goldie will be played by Emily Glover, Mysterious Old Flower Woman by Michele Wade and Rock Quarry by Ahren Lehner.

From Somonauk: Constance Lafoon will played by Linda Johnson.

From Plano: Moustache Agnes will be played by Zoe Michaels and Assayer by Lacey Martin. Olios will be performed by Allison Arguezo, Tyler Knispel and Debra Meeks.

From DeKalb: Preacher’s Widow will be played by Liberty Mildner.

From Yorkville: Little Irving will be played by Brian Pross. Olios will be performed by Savannah Johnson. Sign Girl will be Alexandria Pross.

From Newark: Smedley Pewtree will be played by Darren Whaley.

“Alias Smedley Pewtree or ... The Villain of Glitter Gulch” takes place in a once-roaring gold-mining center which has fallen on hard times.

A villainous banker, a handsome cowboy, and spirits of long-departed miners all add to this hilarious melodrama.

The second melodrama, “Showtime on the Showboat or ... Don’t Throw Garbage in the River,” is directed by Sue Graham.

It takes place on the River Queen Showboat as it steams down the mighty Mississippi River, complete with a dastardly villain (of course) and a villainess, a hero and a lovely heroine.

From Plano: Christine Roe plays Heather Heartthrob, Caitlyn Roe plays Daisy, and Douglas Michaels plays Danny.

From Yorkville: Jennifer Wille as Captain Lucy, Dan Rosier as Rufus Bilge, William Wille as Steamboat Billy and Ashlyn Wille as Violet.

Earlville’s Gregory Peterson plays Alex Adonis; Brittany Watne of Leland plays Sadie Larue; Caitlin Carlson of Sandwich plays Iris; and from Somonauk, Kendel Graham is Rose and Matthew Brockway is Mick.
