Members of Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International recognized Dana Timmermann with the Recruitment Grant for 2014-2015. The $2,000 scholarship will assist Timmermann in completing her bachelor of science in education degree from Northern Illinois University in 2015.
Timmermann completed her associate degree at Kishwaukee College with distinction and has continued her academic work at NIU with an even higher grade-point average. She has had hands-on experience as a tutor, a Sunday school teacher, in supervised clinical situations, and during internships; and along this journey, she has accumulated several honor recognitions and professional memberships. Timmermann credited her family of teachers and some of her former teachers as the guiding lights to her endeavors.
Timmermann is the latest recipient of the Alpha Chapter’s Recruitment Foundation Grant, an effort to assist DeKalb County women who aspire to be educators. Many opportunities in material, scholarship, and stipend support are available from the local DKG Chapter and from the national and international organizations, driving forces to assist women educators for more than 80 years. Training to enhance classroom instruction in many fields, ranging from productive use of creative arts to insights for “taming” advanced technologies, have been offered annually.
