9/11 tribute concert to honor military, vets and first responders

DeKALB – A concert event at DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport on Thursday, Sept. 11, will salute and honor first responders and veterans.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a tribute display of antique and vintage aircraft, military vehicles, and fire vehicles, plus current police and fire vehicles. John Wright will exhibit some of his collection of World War II posters. Food and beverages will be available to purchase.

At 6 p.m., DeKalb Boy Scout Troop 4 will hold a U.S. flag retirement ceremony and local veterans will present colors and give a 21-gun salute. There will be taps played on bugle and “Amazing Grace” on bagpipes.

At 7 p.m., the U.S. Air Force Band of the Midwest will give a tribute concert.
