DeKALB – Corn Fest will take place in downtown DeKalb from Friday, Aug. 29 through Sunday, Aug. 31. According to festival chair Lisa Angel, downtown parking lot closures will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 26, and street closures will begin on Thursday, Aug. 28.
The carnival will be located in the city lots of Glidden, Ellwood, and Haish, which are located between Oak and Locust Street off of Second and Third streets. The carnival will also be in the parking lots of Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home and Frontier Communications. These parking lots will close at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, and will remain closed until Monday, Sept. 1 for carnival set-up and take-down.
Street closures will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, on the following blocks:
• Lincoln Highway between First and Fourth streets
• Locust Street between Second and Fourth streets
• Second and Third streets from the railroad tracks to Oak Street
Traffic from First State Bank will be allowed to exit onto Third Street until the bank closes at noon Aug. 30. Bank traffic will be directed to Locust Street and over to Fourth Street. Locust Street will close completely from noon Aug. 30 until 9 p.m. Aug. 31.
• The Embrey parking lot, behind the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, between First and Second streets. A limited number of parking spaces will be open for customers of Chesapeake Bagel.
There will be signs posted by the City of DeKalb in advance as a reminder. Any vehicles in violation will be towed at the owner’s expense.
The city lots at Fourth and Grove and Second and Grove will remain open throughout the festival. There will also be street parking available on Locust Street on the east side of Fourth Street.
