Kirkland library adds 81 books with grant

KIRKLAND – Kirkland library staff will add 81 new books to the children’s sections thanks to a grant from an Oregon-based foundation.

The Libri Foundation in Eugene, Oregon, recently awarded the Kirkland Public Library with a $1,050 grant for new books. The Libri Foundation is a nationwide organization that donates new, hardcover children’s books to rural libraries.

Members of the Friends of the Kirkland Public Library agreed to supply the needed $350 grant match. The library will receive an additional $350 in math and science books through a donation the Libri Foundation received from Bill Strawbridge and Meg Wallhagen.

The 81 new children’s books will be dispersed among the early readers, junior fiction and junior nonfiction sections. Kirkland library staff offered thanks to the Friends of the Kirkland Public Library and the Libri Foundation.
