Maple Park Fun Fest Labor Day weekend

MAPLE PARK – The Maple Park Fun Fest is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 a.m. Saturday , Aug. 30, and run through Monday, Sept. 1. The festival  includes live music, a craft show, car show, parade, toilet bowl races, food vendors, 5K run/2 mile walk, bags tournament,  fireworks and much more.

Saturday events include the Romp in the Park 5K run/walk, starting at 8 a.m. at the fire station. Crafters and vendors will be at Main and Pleasant streets from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. The bags tournament at North Park begins at 10:30 a.m.

A decorating station for the Fun Fest Bike Parade opens at 11:30 a.m., with the bike parade at 12:30 p.m. The 10th annual Toilet Bowl Challenge begins at 1:30 p.m. on Main Street. Balloon artist Andrew Noyszewski will perform from 2 to 4 p.m., and the Fun Fest parade steps off at 6 p.m.

Sunday’s events begin with a breakfast buffet by the American Legion from 7 a.m. until noon. There will be a car show on Main Street from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., and the craft show opens on Main and Summer streets from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The Maple Park Fire Department Water Challenge begins at 1 p.m., and fireworks light up the sky at 8:30 p.m. If there is rain Sunday night, the fireworks show will be held Monday.

The legion will hold another breakfast buffet from 7 a.m. until noon Monday, Sept. 1. A men’s slow-pitch softball tournament begins at 8 a.m. at the Civic Center fields all three days. Food vendors and the beer garden open at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Onstage entertainment Saturday includes the Just For Kix and M&M dance studios beginning at noon and Not By Chance at 3 p.m. Chemically Imbalanced will begin their set at 5 p.m., break for the parade, and continue to play after the parade. Red Woody takes the stage at 9 p.m. Sunday’s entertainment features the Party Doctors at 2:30 p.m., Shooter Whiskey at 4:30 p.m., Back Country Roads at 7 p.m., and raffle winners announced at 8 p.m.
