Tanzania Development Support, which is headquartered in DeKalb, is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization with a mission of improving the quality of life of youth, especially girls, in the Mara region of Tanzania by supporting primary and secondary school improvements. The current project is the construction of a Library and Community Resource Center in the tiny village of Nyegina, Tanzania. Additional information is available at www.tdsnfp.org.
TDS relies heavily upon the DeKalb area community for support. Over the past five years, semiannual garage sales have raised more than $17,000, due in part to the generosity of local residents who donate merchandise to sell. TDS hopes to continue this success by raising $4,000 at the upcoming sale, which will have a tremendous selection of home furnishings, clothing, toys, sporting goods, plants, books, small appliances, electronics, and vintage items.
Financial donations are also encouraged and gratefully accepted. Checks can be made payable to Tanzania Development Support and mailed to 201 Thornbrook Road, DeKalb, Illinois, 60115. Online donations can be made at www.tdsnfp.org . All donations will be acknowledged with an IRS receipt. Donors who wish to remain anonymous are asked to indicate their wishes upon donation.
