SYCAMORE – The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John (Missouri Synod) is busy preparing for the annual Apple Tree Pick for Safe Passage and a missionary trip.

In the annual Apple Tree Pick for Safe Passage, members of the congregation "pick" an apple, which has a child's name  and sizes on it for clothes and/or shoes. The member purchases the items and gift wraps them. The presents are then taken to Safe Passage by members of the  Outreach Committee of  St. John. This committee has done this program for many years, and the children are very appreciative of the gifts.

Some members of the church, along with the Rev. Robert Weinhold, will travel to Belize as part of a missionary project to focus on that ministry to develop mission work through CALMS (Central American Lutheran Mission Society). Some aspects of this trip are building skills, teaching  skills, nursing or physical therapy skills and other areas to try to match needed skills with members.

St. John is located at 26555 Brickville Road in Sycamore. For more information, call 815-895-4477.
