DeKalb bank president named to board of directors

Timothy A. Struthers has been named to the board of directors of First National Bank of Omaha, announced bank president Daniel K. O’Neill. Struthers is the Illinois market president for Castle Bank, a division of First National Bank.

Struthers has been with the banking organization for 35 years, starting in the mailroom in 1980 and holding a variety of jobs in retail and commercial banking along the way. He became president of First National Bank in DeKalb, the predecessor to Castle Bank, in 1998. He has been actively involved with a number of community organizations over the years and today serves on the boards of the Northern Illinois University Foundation, Illinois Council on Economic Education, Illinois Bankers Association and the DeKalb Sanitary District.

First National Bank, now in its sixth generation of family ownership, is part of one of the largest family-owned holding companies in the United States. First National has been ranked 21st among the nation’s top 100 publicly traded banks on the Forbes "Best Banks in America" list. Struthers said this is the third year in a row that the bank was named to this prestigious list.

First National has more than 100 branch locations throughout the Midwest. The bank’s credit card division, First Bankcard, is a Top 15 commercial card issuer and the bank is one of only four banks to issue all four credit card networks: Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. First National Bank is also the fifth largest agricultural lender in the country.
