DeKalb man wins songwriter award

DeKalb songwriter Gary Mullis was inducted into the new lnternational VIP Songwriters Hall of Fame Museum located inside the Family Theater in Lexington, Alabama, on May 31.

Mullis has won a number of songwriting contests. While he was in Alabama, he recorded several songs and shot footage for a music video he won for his song “Doing the Christmas Boogie.” Singer Kimberley Glover of Lexington sang the song while Mullis danced. The video is expected to be released this Christmas.

Mullis also won first place in a songwriting contest for all three songs he entered, “Pretty Angels,” which he describes as a Christian song, “Wedding Day,” which he wrote for weddings, and “Rolling Down the Road,” which he describes as a truck driver song.
