History scavenger hunt takes a closer look at downtown Sycamore

SYCAMORE - Look up, look down, look all around downtown Sycamore. On Thursday, July 10, the Sycamore History Museum is sponsoring a scavenger hunt that challenges participants to take a closer look at buildings in the downtown area.

The scavenger hunt is part of the Sycamore History Museum’s Family Fun Day series. Start the hunt by finding a Sycamore History Museum volunteer on the courthouse lawn between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

“Sycamore is very lucky to have such a vibrant downtown area. However, when we are shopping or dining, we sometimes forget to enjoy our surroundings," history museum executive director Michelle Donahoe said. "Our junior docents created a scavenger hunt that will make people take a closer look at places they might have walked by many, many times without noticing some historic or architectural detail."

Participants are invited to bring a sack lunch as they wander through town on this adventure. There is a $5 fee per family. For more information, call 815-895-5762 or visit
