Published: Monday, June 23, 2014 6:36 p.m. CDT

DeKALB – Do you still have a shoebox filled with baseball cards you collected as a kid? Are any of them worth anything?

Find out at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at the DeKalb Public Library.  Michael Osacky from Baseball in the Attic will appraise all sorts of sports memorabilia for the public. This community event is free, however, registration is necessary if you would like an item or collection appraised. Registration is not required for those who simply want to attend the event.

Baseball in the Attic has been actively appraising pre-1970 sports cards and memorabilia since 1997. The first 45 minutes of the program will be a presentation on the history of card collecting. For the next 45 minutes, Baseball in the Attic will appraise any vintage sports collectible. Sign up online to register your items. Indicate at registration how many items you will be bringing or if an item is part of a collection.

This event will be in the lower level meeting room. For more information or to register by phone or email, contact Edith Craig, 815-756-9568 ext. 260 or edithc@dkpl.org.

What do you think of bus trips to sporting events?
I'd go; it's easier than driving
No thanks; I don't want to ride to the game with a busload of strangers
