GENOA – Genoa’s Open Air Market on Saturday, June 28, is dedicated to giving back to the community. This month Genoa Main Street, Inc. is working together with the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois and Cub Scout Pack 117 to bring a Heartland Blood drive into downtown Genoa.

The local scouts will have a booth at the outdoor market. The drive will be held on Main Street, right in front of the Genoa Public Library, in Heartland’s Mobile Coach. All blood donations will be given to Kishwaukee Hospital. With 25 blood donations or more, Heartland Blood Centers will donate money to the scouts to support the troops’ activities. Photo ID is required to donate blood.

Representatives from the Illinois Secretary of State's office will be at the Scout table as well, to register people as organ donors.

New vendors are joining the market in June, and Main Street is planning to have entertainment for a portion of the four-hour market. Vendor space is still available.
