Party at the barn supports youth counseling

Published: Thursday, June 19, 2014 3:00 p.m. CDT

Adventure Works of DeKalb County will host its first fundraiser, the Barn-B-Que, from 6:30 until 10 p.m. Saturday, June 28.

The Barn-B-Que will be held at "The Barn" at Pearcy Grain Services, 6149 Route 64 in Clare. The casual evening will include food grilled on-site by Inboden's, stargazing away from the glare of city lights, campfires, and a cash bar.

Entertainment for the evening includes a silent auction, live music by the Dreadnaughts, and interactive adventure demonstrations. Local radio personality TD Ryan will emcee.

Proceeds support Adventure Works' mission of helping youth overcome challenges and become healthy adults through adventure-based counseling.

Adventure Works is a nonprofit, interactive counseling agency that serves youth ages 6-18 providing individual, family and group therapy through adventure. A proven alternative to talk therapy, Adventure Works' services are provided year-round, primarily outdoors, utilizing the natural environment to engage clients behaviorally, emotionally and physically. For more information, contact executive director Lynette Spencer at 815-787-8990.

Barn-B-Que tickets are $40 per person, which includes a meal, entertainment and two drink tickets. Tickets can be purchased online at www.adventureworksdekalb.org or by calling 815-787-8990. Upstream Financial Services and Castle Bank are both sponsors of Barn-B-Que.
