Park run for Safe Passage

SHABBONA – The second annual Pokanoka’s Trail Run/Walk for Safe Passage will take place at 8 a.m. Friday, July 4, at Shabbona Lake State Park. The event will go on rain or shine.

There will be an 8-mile trail for runners and a 1.8-mile trail for walkers through the scenic state park. Both are off-road trails on mowed paths.

Safe Passage offers a wide range of services to victims of domestic and sexual violence, including counseling, legal and medical advocacy, crisis intervention, community education, and a 24-hour support hotline. Established in 1981, Safe Passage continues to grow in an effort to serve more victims and their families. Donations are tax deductible.

Early bird registration is  $25 for runners, $10 for walkers and includes a race T-shirt. Starting June 28, registration for runners is $30. Register online at Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers 19 and older and 18 and younger.
