Looking to reward Good Samaritans

Published: Tuesday, June 3, 2014 8:03 a.m. CDT

DeKALB – The board of trustees at DeKalb Area Retirement Center-Oak Crest is seeking nominees for its annual Good Samaritan award.

The award is presented to members of the community who have demonstrated a commitment to the community and its people, in any number of ways. We all know people who live a life of service simply because there is a need; this is an opportunity to acknowledge their efforts.

The Good Samaritan cares for others beyond the normal compassion of most people; actively participates in community organizations and combines community service with personal caring; or works quietly to better the lives of others.

These criteria are a guide and are not all-inclusive. Nominees should come from the community-at-large and do not necessarily have an association with Oak Crest.

To nominate someone, call 815-756-8461 or email cbuehler@oakcrestdekalb.org to request a nomination form. Nominations must be returned by Monday, June 30, Community Relations Committee, DeKalb Area Retirement Center-Oak Crest, 2944 Greenwood Acres Drive, DeKalb, Ill., 60115.
