Local insurance agent lobbies in Washington

SYCAMORE ― State Farm Insurance agent Jeff Keicher joined hundreds of other insurance agents, advisers, brokers, consultants and employee benefit specialists from across the country in Washington, D.C. to meet with U.S. Senators, Congressmen and staff as part of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors’ Congressional Conference.

Congressional Conference attendees talked to their members of Congress about the importance of life insurance, annuities and employee benefits to the clients and the U.S. economy. Life insurance products account for 20 percent of Americans’ long-term savings. The life insurance industry pays out $1.5 billion each day and supports 2.5 million jobs.

“These are important numbers to know as any changes are being considered,” Keicher said. “We have to be vigilant in making sure people who have sought to be secure in their future don’t get overlooked or punished through unintended consequences in the tax code.”

Keicher met with five Congressmen, including Rep. Randy Hultgren.

“It's so important to visit these contacts on Capitol Hill and to share with our Representatives and Senators how important the insurance and financial services that we provide to our clients are to families, our communities and our country’s economy,” he said.
