DeKALB – Ken Olson, physical therapist with Northern Rehab Physical Therapy Specialists, recently presented an educational session at the American Physical Therapy Association Orthopaedic Section’s Annual Meeting in St. Louis.
The title of the presentation was, “Integrating Movement System Impairments and Manual Therapy for the Treatment of Neck Pain Disorders.” The session was taught in conjunction with Michael Wong, a physical therapist and associate professor at Azusa Pacific University.
Wong is a nationally recognized expert in the movement system impairment approach, which focuses on movement re-education and motor control exercises to treat painful joint conditions. Olson was invited to present at this conference due to his past publications and clinical expertise in the use of manual therapy to treat spinal conditions.
The session focused on providing the latest research to support manual therapy combined with specific exercises to treat neck pain disorders and also included a hands-on educational session for the physical therapists in attendance at the conference.
