Beth Fowler dance show takes a trip down
The Beth Fowler School of Dance of Genoa and St. Charles promises its audience a trip down memory lane with its third production of the season, “Dancing Thru the Decades,” at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St. in DeKalb. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
A high-energy mix of pop hits and dance music will lead a nostalgic journey through the decades beginning with the early rock ‘n’ roll of the 1950s, the up-tempo psychedelic tunes of the ‘60s, the classic rock and disco of the ‘70s and pop hits of the big-hair ‘80s.
The second half of the show will feature the pulsating rock of the ‘90s and urban hip hop and current hits of the new millennium.
Included will be award-winning pieces by the Beth Fowler School of Dance Performing Group. Award-winning dances are “Slow Me Down,” “Girls Night,” and “The Perfect Two,” choreographed by faculty member Brooke Fowler; “In the Closet,” choreographed by faculty member Joey Hernandez; and “Just One Night All We Got” and “Toxic,” choreographed by faculty member Hannah Smith.
Other entertaining pieces will be performed by dance school groups and the Dance Company. Costumes will represent fashions popular in each decade.
Tickets cost $15 and $25 and can be purchased online at www.egyptiantheatre.org or by calling 815-758-1225. Tickets also can be purchased one hour before each performance.
