Summer walking tours return in Sycamore

Published: Tuesday, June 3, 2014 8:04 a.m. CST

The Sycamore History Museum, as part of the ongoing Historical Walking Tours of Sycamore’s Historic District, will offer guided walking tours during the summer.

On the first Sunday of the month, the tour will feature Somonauk Street, and on June 15 there will be a tour of Main Street led by noted local historian Steve Bigolin. The group will leave from the southeast corner of the Sycamore Farmers Market at 1 p.m. and will last about 90 minutes. Cost of the tour is $5 per person, and handouts with information on highlighted locations will be provided.

Bigolin has led historic district tours of Somonauk and Main streets, as well as numerous local cemetery tours. Bigolin is a master tour guide with a huge store of knowledge of DeKalb County history.

Tours will be offered on the first and third Sunday of the month. For details, visit www.sycamorehistory.org or call 815-895-5762.
