DeKALB – The DeKalb Public Library’s third annual local author’s fair, The Writer’s Yarn, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31.
The fair will feature local authors, baked goods and refreshments, an activity nook with games and crafts, face painting, and mini pop-up interactive sessions with authors until 3 p.m. This event is free, open to everyone and will be located in the library.
There will be 21 local authors and two publishing houses participating in the fair: B.A. Binn, Beverly Finn, Clayton Smith, Courtney Skelton, Dale Cozort, Danny Dillman, Deanna Frances, Debra R. Borys, Ed Posega, G.K. Wuori, John Desjarlais, K.B. Jensen, Larry D. Howlett, Luisa Buehler, Mary Bell, Michael B.J. Farley, Michael Kirk, S.L. Jones, Tiffany Riley, Valerie Twombly and Yanet Platt. These authors represent a mixed selection of children’s books, young adult, romance, mysteries, nonfiction, and poetry.
Buehler will hold a mini pop-up session at her booth called “Plotting while Potting” about poisonous plants and how she uses them in her mysteries. Borys will hold a mini pop- up session at her booth about how volunteering in Chicago with the homeless inspired her to feature street kids and the issues they have to deal with in her suspense novel series. Binns will focus her session on reaching out to parents seeking to keep their kids reading over the summer. These sessions will spontaneously occur as people visit their booths.
There will also be bestseller raffles for both adults and children. Contact Edith Craig at 815-756-9568 ext. 260 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
