Big Brothers Big Sisters program for mentors with busy schedules

Published: Tuesday, May 20, 2014 10:08 a.m. CST

Big Brothers Big Sisters of DeKalb County will launch a new program in the fall of 2014, Lunch Buddies. Big Brothers Big Sisters is hoping this helps individuals with busy schedules and families at home to still be involved with the organization.

The program is searching for volunteers for the program, which provides children ages 5-13 a mentor. Volunteers will spend an hour at lunchtime every other week during the school calendar week with their specific “Little.” Lunch Buddies are asked to help their “Littles” with homework, play at recess but more importantly, be their friend.

To start the enrollment process, call 815-758-8616 or email lnolan@fsadekalbcounty.org. There will also be an informational session at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at Family Service Agency.
