Kishwaukee College announced the annual Award of Excellence recipients at the Employee Appreciation Reception held at the Kishwaukee College Conference Center on May 2.
The Awards of Excellence program is sponsored by the Kishwaukee College Board of Trustees to recognize outstanding employees and their contributions to the college. Awards are given in four categories: KCEA Bargaining Unit, Professional Staff, Support Staff and Adjunct Faculty. College faculty and staff members were nominated by community members, faculty and staff of the college, students and alumni.
The nominees for KCEA Bargaining Unit (faculty, counselors and library personnel)were Kacy Abeln, Chase Budziak, Terese Dudek, Nadine Franklin, Janet Gallagher, Tim Lockman, Ann Mueller, Dr. John Pfund, Dr. Tony Thomas and Pam Wagener. The recipient of the Award of Excellence was Ann Mueller. She has been a member of the English faculty at Kishwaukee College for 20 years and is the college’s reading coordinator. Mueller also is the chairwoman of the Developmental Education Committee and a member of the Enrollment Management Committee and Retention Committee.
The nominees for Professional Staff were: Lindsay Barron, Leslie Ciaccio, RJ McGarry, SyLinda Menafee, Ronda Ramsdell, Steve Squier and Pat Zilm. The recipient of the Award of Excellence was Pat Zilm. She has been with the college for 14 years, and for the majority of that time has served as the facilities coordinator. In that role, Zilm schedules, coordinates and manages room usage on campus for internal departments and activities as well as external clients that use the Conference Center.
The nominees for Support Staff were: Dan Davis, Rich Fenton, Eric Hermann, Kim Jordal, Barb Male, Kathy Mershon, Doug Moser, Pam Pascolini, Linda Smith and the “Snow Brigade” (Tim Berkshire, Steve Komadina, Kevin Braden, Brad Male, Roger Douglas, Doug Gay, Doug Moser, Roger Rodriguez, Mark Gommel, John Taylor, Chris Johnson, Ted Wilkinson and Dave Jones). The recipient of the Award of Excellence was Dan Davis, network and telephone system engineer in the Information Technology Department. Davis develops, implements, maintains and troubleshoots the college’s phone and computer network.
The recipients of the Adjunct Faculty Awards were Melinda Chaney, Steven Hoover and Clare Kron. Chaney is an adjunct faculty member in the Biology Department where she teaches introductory biology courses and is the biology lab coordinator. Hoover is an adjunct faculty member in the Art Department and director of the college’s art gallery. Kron is an adjunct faculty member in the Biology Department.
In addition to certificates, each recipient received a monetary award and will have their names added to the BOT Award of Excellence plaque permanently on display at Kishwaukee College.
