The Middle States Association’s (MSA) Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools has awarded Camelot Education full accreditation, validating Camelot’s reputation for academic thoroughness and as a leading provider of alternative education programs.
Earlier studies by Mathematica Policy Research, Research for Action and Jobs for the Future reported on Camelot’s outstanding results in helping second-chance learners catch up, graduate and advance to post-secondary school or employment. In granting the accreditation, the MSA cited three goals as part of Camelot’s seven-year accreditation period: increased performance in literacy and numeracy, increased postsecondary opportunities, and raised reading performance for emotionally disturbed students in therapeutic day schools.
“MSA standards are rigorous, and this result was hard-earned and a long time in coming,” said Camelot Education CEO Todd Bock. “This achievement for an alternative education organization is a tribute to the professionalism and commitment of our staff, but it is also a validation of our core belief that if you entrust at-risk students with responsibility and hold them accountable, they will respond.”
MSA is the body that accredits preK-12 schools in the Mid-Atlantic region. Middle States accredited schools are better positioned to use time, talent and money in the most efficient and effective way possible.
Camelot operates 36 programs at 32 locations in seven states. Under an agreement with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the accreditation will also be recognized for Camelot schools in Colorado and Texas.
“When school districts are deciding on which organizations can achieve the best academic results for their kids with the greatest challenges, we think it will be reassuring to know that yet another objective evaluation has resulted in high marks for our program,” Bock said.
