Lion Paul Bafia, the executive director of the Genoa Park District, asked the Genoa Lions to assist with a spring spruce-up of Lions Corner Park at Madison and Walnut streets. The Genoa Lions responded at 8:30 a.m. May 3 with 10 Lions and the spirit to move the mountains of mulch that needed to be spread beneath the playground equipment. The participants were Mike Dreska, his son James, Jim Sanford, Todd Merritt, Mike Moes, Jerry Helland, Mike Ross, Hector Feliciano, Joe Wilkinson, Greg Cravatta and Bafia. This crew finished spreading the mulch by 9:30 a.m. and moved on to Central Park in the River Bend Subdivision and knocked that out and went on to finish two smaller “pocket” parks in the subdivision, finishing by 11 a.m. Dreska and his son walked the creek and picked up trash at Corner Park to finish the job.
