SYCAMORE – On May 2, Collins Dental Group of Sycamore hosted an art show featuring artwork from DeKalb and Sycamore high school art students. About 200 students, family members and art enthusiasts attended the public open house to view the 82 pieces of artwork. Members of the strings ensemble from Sycamore High School provided music.

Collins Dental Group has a history of connecting with the local community and holding special events to celebrate the uniqueness of DeKalb County. Many staff have or have had children in the local school systems, and some are alumni of the Sycamore and DeKalb schools.

“We have a strong relationship with our community and a love of art, so we wanted to highlight the wonderful work done by our local young artists,” Dr. Dennis Collins said.

The event was judged by Robert Bornhuetter and Louis Mustari, retired professors from the Northern Illinois University School of Art. Awards were given for in seven categories as well as Best of Show. During the reception, students were able to discuss their work with the judges and gain perspective from these professional artists.

Due to the overwhelming response, plans are already under way to make this an annual event. For more information, call 815-758-3666 or visit www.collinsdentalgroup.com.

I'd go; it's easier than driving
No thanks; I don't want to ride to the game with a busload of strangers
