SYCAMORE – More than a million students enter the National Merit Scholarship competition each year, and only 16,000 are named semifinalists. From the 16,000, scholarships are awarded to 8,000 finalists across the country.

Sycamore High School is very fortunate to have two finalists this year. Casey Bunge and Elizabeth Watson should be congratulated for becoming finalists in this very competitive program.

Rachael Miller has been selected as a winner of the BP Foundation Inc. Scholarship, which is also a part of the National Merit Scholarship program. These special scholarships are offered by many business organizations across the country. These corporate sponsors offer a fixed number of scholarships, usually to children of employees or residents of communities where the company has facilities.
