GENOA – Hope for Ethan, a benefit for Ethan Slinkard, will be held from 4 p.m. until midnight Saturday, May 3, at the Genoa VFW, 311 S. Washington St. in Genoa.
At age 3, Ethan, until then a healthy boy, was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease. Children with his condition rarely live to age 3. There are no treatments or cures for this disease, and since he is ventilator-dependent, Ethan is not eligible for clinical trials, but his family has hope that hyperbaric treatment could save his life. The fundraiser will help offset the cost of treatments, travel, and an at-home hyperbaric chamber. The Slinkard family is hopeful that they will one day see Ethan walk, talk, and eat on his own again.
Tickets to the benefit are $10. The event will include a pig roast dinner, bake sale, beer garden, 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and live music by The Back Up Plan and Shuvlhed. To donate directly, visit www.gofundme.com/ethanslinkard.
