Senior expo focuses on health, safety

SYCAMORE - The 2014 Senior Health & Safety Expo will be held at the office of Home Bound Healthcare, 1625 Bethany Road in Sycamore, from 1-5 p.m. Friday April 25.  

This free community and senior citizen safety-oriented event includes a blood drive for Heartland Blood Center. Free health screenings will also be available, including blood pressure checks and cholesterol screenings from a registered nurse, as well as balance checks and fall risk assessments from a physical therapist.

Representatives from hospice, durable medical equipment, private duty home care, skilled home health care, and more will be on site to answer questions and provide information. A massage therapist will provide free chair massages to people who attend the event, and attendees will receive free tote bags and refreshments.  

Brian Cooper, Regional Social Worker for Home Bound Healthcare, will give an educational presentation at 2 p.m. on the topic of preventing scams against seniors.
