Classical works in Oak Crest concert

Victor Ryzhov and Victoria Young will perform at the DeKalb Area Retirement Center – Oak Crest, 2944 Greenwood Acres Drive in DeKalb, at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6.

The featured work will be the “Sonata for Piano and Violin No. 4 Opus 23” by Beethoven. Other pieces will be “Arie des Lensky” by Tchaikovsky; “Airs Russes” by Wieniawski; “Valse, Op. 64, No. 2, in C sharp minor” by Chopin and “Clair de Lune” by Debussy.

Violinist Ryzhov is a professor of chemistry and biochemistry at Northern Illinois University. He occasionally plays violin in the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Ryzhov often performs locally in chamber groups. He studied violin with Blaise Magniere of the Avalon String Quartet from 2008-2013.

Pianist Young is a piano accompanist at the NIU School of Dance and an organist/pianist at Westminster Presbyterian Church in DeKalb. She studied with William Koehler at Northern Illinois University, where she received a Master of Music degree.
