DeKALB – “Contributing to Women’s History Month” is the theme of the DeKalb Area Women’s Center Herstorical Tea.

The program will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at the center, 1021 State St. in DeKalb. Volunteers will serve tea and cookies and participants can view displays of women’s collections on exhibit.

There will be entertaining education with local and historical women’s stories by Northern Illinois University faculty including Winifred Creamer from the anthropology department and Maylan Dunn-Kenney from the College of Education. Some surprise guest speakers are in the wings.

Coins bearing women’s images are increased in value for the afternoon; donations at the door will be $5 if paying with bills or $1 if paying with a Sacagawea golden dollar or Susan B. Anthony silver dollar coin.

The accessible lift may be entered from the alley north of the building. The free parking lot is located one-half block south at 415 N. 11th St. For more information, call 815-758-1351 or email dawc@niu.edu.
