Dale E. Kingsnorth will celebrate his 90th birthday on Dec. 29. Kingsnorth was born in 1923 and is a lifelong resident of Sycamore.
Kingsnorth was born the year the Sycamore Community Golf Course opened, and he spent much of his 90 years there. He attended Sycamore schools and is a veteran of World War II.
He married Lorraine Jossendal from Shabbona in 1949.
Dale and Lorraine have two children, Julie Kingsnorth and Rita Kohler (Scott). They have two granddaughters, Mary Kohler and Katherine Kohler. Kingsnorth worked at Anaconda Wire and Cable until its closure and then at The National Bank and Trust Company of Sycamore. His hobbies have been softball, bowling, golf, fishing, and watching televised sports. He is a regular at his granddaughters’ athletic events.
Kingsnorth is often asked what it is like to have a birthday during the holiday season. He says with a grin that he used to get one sock as a gift at Christmas and the mate for his birthday.
Kingsnorth will celebrate with the senior bowlers at Mardi Gras Lanes, 1730 Sycamore Road in DeKalb, from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27. Cards are welcome.
