DeKALB – St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will host two very different Christmas Eve services: an interactive children’s Holy Communion service at 4 p.m. with a special Christmas pageant, and a traditional Holy Communion service at 6 p.m. with special musical selections.
“The children’s service is designed to help children explore and understand the Christmas story from a child’s perspective,” said Rev. Stacy Walker-Frontjes. “We want each child to be able to experience the Gospel story in a way they may not have before.”
The children will retrace the journey of the Holy Family and celebrate the birth of Jesus. Children of all ages are encouraged to attend and to join the pageant immediately before the service, no practice necessary. Children should arrive by 3:30 p.m. if they want to take part in the pageant.
St. Paul’s Traditional Festive Holy Communion service will be at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. In addition to traditional carols and hymns, several choral favorites will be performed by the St. Paul’s Adult/Youth Choir. Both services will include singing Franz Gruber’s “Silent Night” by candlelight.
All Christians are welcome to receive Holy Communion at St. Paul’s, 900 Normal Road in DeKalb. For more information, contact the church at 815-756-4888 or visit www.stpaulsdekalb.org.
