DeKALB – The Board of Directors of Safe Passage, DeKalb County’s only domestic violence and sexual assault agency, is seeking a new executive director to achieve the agency’s strategic goals and lead it into the future.

Safe Passage serves the entire county through community education to reduce or prevent domestic violence and sexual assault and through services to victims and their children, including crisis intervention, counseling, medical and legal advocacy, short and long-term housing, and an abuser intervention program.

Following an in-depth strategic planning process last spring with the board of directors, staff, and community leaders, Safe Passage focused on board development and enhanced internal and external communication.

“Adding five new board members who represent the diversity of our community and bring new skills and networks to fulfilling our mission has put us in a great position to move forward,” said board president Pat Brown. “We are proud of the work accomplished by the board and interim director Deanna Hacker during the past year and look forward to appointing a new executive director to continue this progress.”

The executive director search is being facilitated by Stacy Reynolds of Anchor Associates, who also led the strategic planning process. It has been generously supported by the Roberts Family Foundation, KishHealth Systems, the Sycamore National Bank and Trust Company, The Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault, and the DeKalb County Community Foundation.
