DeKALB – The Housing Authority of the County of DeKalb is again ranked among the best of the nation’s more than 3,000 housing authorities, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
In HUD’s Public Housing Assessment scores for the fiscal year ending March 31, the authority was ranked as a “high performer” in the management of its 280 federal public housing units. The housing authority received a score of 94 out of a possible 100, and earned perfect scores in financial management and management operations.
The scores were released in November. The assessment looks at the physical condition of the properties, the financial management of the program, and management operations.
“We are very proud of this achievement, and are committed to maintaining this high standard for the residents of (the housing authority’s) housing programs,” said Michelle Perkins, executive director of the housing authority.
This outstanding assessment by HUD comes on the heels of the Higher Performer rating the authority received from HUD for the Housing Choice Voucher program.
