SYCAMORE – The Sycamore Fire Department announces this year’s annual presentation of the Red Wreath Program. The Sycamore Red Wreath Program began in 1997 as a way to bring awareness of fire and home safety during the holiday season.

On Thanksgiving Day, a red wreath was placed on the outside of both Sycamore fire stations. They will be displayed until Jan. 1, 2014. The wreaths will have all red bulbs when displayed. When there is an emergency incident related to the holiday season, firefighters will replace one red bulb with a white bulb.

Last year, the red wreaths indicated no incident related to the holiday season.

A Red Wreath Report will follow in January. If you have any questions about the Red Wreath Program, or would like any information about fire safety, contact Fire Prevention Coordinator James Ward or Assistant Fire Chief Art Zern at the Sycamore Fire Department, 815-895-4514, during normal business hours.
