DeKALB – The DeKalb County Health Department received a grant from the DeKalb County Community Foundation to update media equipment and purchase updated educational materials for the classes provided in the health department’s Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) program.
WIC is a nutritional program that promotes good nutrition, starting with educating new moms on the benefits of breast-feeding. The health department provides a “Baby Friendly” experience to promote and support breast-feeding for positive health outcomes.
“This upgrade will allow our staff to provide our clients with a better quality educational experience to positively influence their family’s nutrition,” public health administrator Jane Lux said.
The DeKalb County Community Foundation strives to enhance the quality of life in DeKalb County by proactively addressing community needs and expanding, managing, and distributing philanthropic resources.
