DeKALB – The Union Pacific railroad grade crossing at Routes 23 and 38 in downtown DeKalb will be closed for about a week beginning Monday, Nov. 11.
Union Pacific said the crossing could be closed up to seven days while repairs are made. Route 38 (Lincoln Highway) will be closed between Fifth and Third streets and Route 23 (Fourth Street) will be closed between Grove and Locust streets.
Highway and truck traffic will be detoured along the following routes:
• Northbound traffic on Route 23 will be routed east on Fairview Drive to Peace Road, north to Barber Greene Road, then west to reconnect with Route 23 (Sycamore Road). Southbound traffic on Route 23 will follow the same detour in reverse.
• Westbound traffic on Route 38 will be routed south on Peace Road to Fairview Drive, west to South Fourth Street, south to Harvestore Drive, west to South First Street, north to Fairview Drive, west to Annie Glidden Road, then north to reconnect with Route 38. Eastbound traffic on Route 38 will follow the same detour in reverse.
