Children's Learning Center (CLC) bought and distributed more than 500 books to children enrolled in the program over three months last summer. A donation from Macy's made the purchase possible through Reading Is FUNdamental (RIF), a nationwide project to encourage children’s interest in reading. CLC has participated in RIF for more than 30 years. Federal funding for the program was terminated at the end of 2011, but it continues with the support of Macy's and other sponsors. CLC’s literacy projects receive volunteer support and contributions from Kishwaukee Kiwanis of DeKalb, Kiwanis Club of DeKalb, Altrusa International of DeKalb-Sycamore, and private donors.
