NIU seniors present a comedy of horrors

Published: Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 9:47 a.m. CST

DeKALB – Northern Illinois University School of Theatre and Dance seniors will host their annual Halloween sketch comedy show in Holmes Student Center Diversions Lounge on the NIU campus at 10 p.m. Oct. 31 through Nov. 2.

The show is a very important fundraiser for the seniors, to help pay for their acting reels and samples of their work on video, which help them get a jump start on their careers in their craft.

This sketch show is the perfect marriage of pop culture and well-known Halloween horror movie formulas. “Children of the Corn” is packed with familiar characters made completely ridiculous.

“There is also the very traditional musical number to end the night, that is sure to be an audience favorite,” student director Hailey Shelton said.

“The show is filled with adult silliness and legitimately frightening scenes that are sure to bring a great Halloween experience for the haunting season.”

Concessions will be sold before and after the show. The evening will also feature a raffle for the privilege to pie a senior in the face. Attendees are strongly encouraged to arrive in their best Halloween costumes. A prize will be given to the person with the best Halloween costume of the night every night.

Tickets are $5 and only available at the door, starting at 9 p.m. each night. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. For more information, call 309-798-9253 or email hello.shelton@gmail.com.
