Museum hosts fall festival
SYCAMORE — The Sycamore History Museum will celebrate fall from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Family Fun Day. Everyone is invited to enjoy the best parts of fall: homemade apple cider, fall crafts, and tours of the museum’s exhibit “PLAY,” which includes many Pumpkin Festival artifacts.
This is the fifth year the museum has held a Fall Festival. During the afternoon, volunteer Bill Mitchell will teach visitors how to make apple cider using an old-fashioned apple cider press. Mitchell is also known for being very creative and coming up with a variety of crafts children can take home. Tours of the museum’s exhibit will be led by junior docents, who will share the history of Pumpkin Fest along with the stories connected to some of the new additions to the exhibit – artifacts connected to Sycamore High School sports, Girl and Boy Scout collections, and toys recently donated.
Cost is $5 per family. The Sycamore History Museum is at 1730 N. Main St. For more information, call 815-895-5762 or visit sycamorehistory.org.
