Volunteers needed for Egyptian haunted house
DeKALB – Amenti, the Egyptian Theatre’s haunted house, will return for nine nights this year: Oct. 18-20, 25-27, 30 and Nov. 1-2.
Now in its eighth year, Amenti features 20 different scenes on six levels inside the historic theater at 135 N. Second St. in DeKalb. Each year, it takes about 100 volunteers who dedicate more than 2,500 hours of time to make Amenti a success.
Volunteers are needed from Oct. 5 through Nov. 13. Various shifts are available each day, and no experience is necessary. Volunteers are needed to load in materials like wood panels, scenery and props; to build the haunted house inside the theater; to participate as actors in the haunted house; to take tickets, provide security and sell merchandise; to help actors with makeup and costumes; and to take down the haunted house when the attraction is over.
