Supreme Court justice speaks at men’s retreat

KINGSTON – Illinois Supreme Court Justice and former placekicker for the Chicago Bears, Robert Thomas, will be the keynote speaker for a men’s retreat at Walcamp Outdoor Ministries, 32653 Five Points Road in Kingston. The retreat will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, and end at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19.

Sponsored by Lutheran Hour Ministries and Word of Life Lutheran Church, the theme is “Christian Men in the 21st Century.” Thomas will lead a discussion on how men can remain faithful in the midst of disappointments. 

In addition, participants will enjoy the amenities of Walcamp: a campfire on Friday evening, volleyball, soccer, softball, football, bags, horseshoes and hiking in the woods.

Men can participate in the retreat for the Friday evening session and overnight or attend only Saturday. You must be 18 to register. Fathers attending may register their sons who are 14 or older. The fee is $85 for the overnight which includes lodging and two meals on Saturday. The Saturday-only fee is $40 and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Registration due Oct. 1.
