DeKALB – Two managers at the MidWeek and Daily Chronicle have been promoted to new positions within Shaw Media, parent company of the newspaper, effective immediately.
Don Bricker, publisher of the Daily Chronicle and MidWeek since 2008, has been named regional publisher and general manager of Shaw Media’s suburban group.
Bricker will continue as publisher of the Daily Chronicle, and also as publisher of the Kane County Chronicle and Morris Daily Herald. Bricker also will oversee the day-to-day operations at Shaw’s Crystal Lake-based Northwest Herald.
Karen Pletsch, who has been advertising director at the Daily Chronicle and MidWeek since 2010, will become general manager of the Daily Chronicle, MidWeek and Valley Life publications. Pletsch will oversee day-to-day operations of Shaw Media’s advertising, news and marketing efforts in DeKalb County.
“I look forward to my new responsibilities and am excited to have Karen Pletsch take over daily leadership of the Daily Chronicle and our other DeKalb County products,” Bricker said. “She brings a passion for serving customers that will ensure the Daily Chronicle is meeting the needs of the community.”
Pletsch is a 29-year newspaper industry veteran who has worked with Shaw since 2003 and also has worked with Paxton Media Group, Central Newspapers and Gannett.
“I am extremely grateful for the trust that Shaw Media has placed in me, and I am excited about my expanded role with the Daily Chronicle, Midweek and Valley Life,” Pletsch said. “I am proud to be part of a family-owned company that is committed to grow and evolve to meet the needs of the communities we serve.”
