Published: Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 12:05 p.m. CDT

DeKALB – A motor development program for young children will be offered from Sept. 23 to Nov. 13 at Northern Illinois University.

This program offers children ages 3 to 10 a way to develop coordination through developmentally-appropriate physical activity. Children will have fun, learn movement concepts, learn fitness activities through play, develop motor skills, coordination and rhythm, enhance learning and memory, and prevent obesity.

The program is directed by Dr. Clersida Garcia, a specialist in motor development and pedagogy. It runs from 4 to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays for eight weeks. Cost is $80 per term, and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more information, call 815-753-1400 or email cgarcia@niu.edu, or visit cedu.niu.edu/knpe/outreach/mdrl.shtml.
