Kish run benefits Adventure Works
DeKALB – Proceeds from the Unlimited Performance 5K Run/Walk by KishHealth System Physical Therapy Center – formerly Unlimited Performance Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine – were matched by KishHealth System, and the total amount of $2,800 was donated to Adventure Works.
The health system matches the amount raised in the walk each year, and the proceeds are donated to a local nonprofit. This is the first year the health system has donated to Adventure Works.
“Adventure Works is extremely grateful for the opportunities given by Unlimited Performance through this fundraising 5K run,” said Lynette Spencer, executive director of Adventure Works. “I know putting on an event such as this is a lot of work and the team at Unlimited Performance did an awesome job.”
Adventure Works is a nonprofit adventure therapy agency founded in 2010 to serve children 6 and older. Its mission is to help youth become healthy adults by positive intervention through adventure therapy.
Adventure Works offers individual, family and group counseling services based in adventure, primarily conducted outdoors in the natural environments such as forest preserves, parks, lakes and rivers.
Spencer said $2,800 is “an amazing gift” to the small agency.
“This will provide for five children living below the poverty line to each attend an eight-week adventure therapy session in any one of our weekly groups,” she said. “This is a phenomenal gift and will help these children tremendously.”
