Goodrich named Oak Crest Good Samaritan
DeKALB – Jack Goodrich was named the 2013 Good Samaritan at DeKalb Area Retirement Center-Oak Crest.
The Good Samaritan is a member of the community who cares for others beyond normal compassion, who actively participates in community organizations and combines community service with personal caring, and who works quietly to better the lives of others.
Many organizations have benefited from Goodrich’s time and talents. He is a former member and past president of the Oak Crest Board of Trustees and continues to volunteer at special events and programs at Oak Crest. He recently accepted the role of chair of the leadership initiative for this year’s accreditation renewal.
Goodrich is an active member of the DeKalb United Methodist Church, where he participates in council, choir and a variety of committees. He embraces his faith and lives a life of service to others by planning and participating in mission trips at the Red Bird Mission Work Camp in Kentucky.
After a long career in agriculture, Goodrich remains active with the local 4-H chapter and works with young people interested in the field. He also supports many civic organizations and agencies and is a member of the Kishwaukee Kiwanis Club.
Those who have worked with him in his many volunteer roles would describe him as unassuming, generous, and supportive, according to a news release.
