Lang takes seat on city council
SYCAMORE — The newest alderman on the Sycamore City Council is the retired owner of a local dentistry business.
Curtis Lang, 64, was unanimously approved by the council to fill in a seat that was left vacant by former 1st Ward Alderman Gary Waight. Waight resigned from his position to spend more time with his family in DuPage County.
Sycamore Mayor Ken Mundy chose Lang over several other candidates and recommended him for council approval at its meeting Aug. 19.
Lang is now responsible for communicating the needs of the 1st Ward to the council alongside 1st Ward Alderman Alan Bauer. The seat will next be up for election in April 2015.
The 1st Ward is one of four in the city and extends from South Maple Street east to Airport Road; and north from Becker Place to Brian Street. Each ward is served by two aldermen.
Toward the end of the council meeting, Lang thanked everyone for their time and support.
“As a citizen and not a council member, I’m very appreciative of living in Sycamore and being part of the community,” Lang said. “It’s going to be fun for me.”
