Area teens participate in an activity at the 2012 Youth Engaged in Philanthropy Meet and Greet. The 2013 event will be Aug. 25.

Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) is a youth-led committee of the DeKalb County Community Foundation. The Committee is seeking enthusiastic high-school aged youth from all over the county who want to enhance the community. Interested students are invited to the Meet and Greet from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25 at the Freight Room in the DeKalb County Community Foundation, 475 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore.

“We welcome all DeKalb County high school students, so if you can, bring anyone to come and see what YEP is all about,” said Alexa Farris, a senior at Sycamore High School and chair of the 2013-14 YEP Committee.

YEP members are a grant-making committee for projects that benefit youth in DeKalb County. There are monthly evening meetings from October through May. Other activities include grant application site visits, a grants reception, and outreach activities with other nonprofit organizations.

Students interested in YEP should plan to attend the Meet and Greet. For more information, visit www.DeKalbCCF.org/YEP.html, call 815-748-5383 or email becky@dekalbccf.org.
