Redeemed expands into home furniture market

DeKALB – Redeemed Office Furniture, 1600 E. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb, has expanded into the home furnishings market.

Redeemed already carries the largest selection of new and gently-used office furniture between Aurora and Rock Island, according to a news release. It previously carried quality used home furnishings, but recently established a cooperative with Harold’s Furniture in Rock Falls to begin offering new home furnishings and mattresses. Customers can access Redeemed’s inventory, featuring Ashley and Lane, for cash and carry, or can order from Harold’s larger inventory.

Founded in 2009, Redeemed is owned and operated by Dan and Lisa Rinker, who have more than 20 years of experience in furniture installation and delivery in the Chicagoland area. Their 25,000-plus square-foot showroom on Lincoln Highway carries a variety of office shelving, cabinets, chairs, desks, conference tables, lighting and more. Redeemed also offers delivery and installation.

Lisa Rinker said the store is aiming especially at Northern Illinois University students who are moving into apartments.

“This will be affordable furniture,” she said. “We’re a local store, but we’ve developed 20 years worth of connections in the Chicago market. We have access to the best of Chicago without having to go to Chicago.”
